The National Judicial Institute (NJI) on Friday officially welcomed its new administrator, Justice Babatunde Adeniran Adejumo, as the 9th Administrator of the Institute.
Justice Adejumo’s appointment was approved by the Board of Governors of the Institute, chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, during its meeting held on July 3, 2025.
A statement by the Head, Information and Public Relations of the NJI, Mr. Kolade Umoru, on Friday said, Adejumo’s tenure follows the completion of service by the former Administrator, Justice Salisu G. Abdullahi.
In a warm reception held at the NJI headquarters in Abuja, the statement said, the Director of Administration, Mr. Osmond A. Otobo, speaking on behalf of the management and principal officers, lauded Justice Adejumo’s credentials.
He described the new administrator as a seasoned judicial administrator renowned for his transformative leadership at the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN), where he implemented numerous legal reforms and infrastructural developments.
“We are grateful to the Chief Justice of Nigeria for appointing such a distinguished technocrat.
We assure you of our loyalty and commitment to a successful tenure. NJI remains a united family built on cooperation and mutual respect,” Otobo stated.
In his remarks, Justice Adejumo expressed appreciation for the reception, noting his longstanding relationship with the Institute dating back to 1993 and pledged to bring his wealth of experience to bear, replicating the success recorded during his tenure at NICN.
“I am not new to this Institute. I have worked with past Chief Justices and will build on what has been achieved here. Discipline, transparency, and hard work will be our watchwords,” he said.
Justice Adejumo further emphazised his commitment to staff welfare, improved training, and a comprehensive review of the Institute’s curriculum to align with international best practices.
He also announced plans to upgrade NJI’s IT infrastructure and library systems to boost global accessibility and visibility.
Described as a respected jurist, educator, and administrator, Justice Adejumo’s appointment is expected to bolster the NJI’s role in judicial education and institutional innovation, setting new benchmarks in professional performance and ethical standards in the Nigerian judiciary.
