Nigeria president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a 76% cut in the cost of kidney dialysis in federal hospitals, reducing charges from N50,000 to N12,000.
The announcement was made on Monday by the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Information, Daniel Bwala, who disclosed the development through his official X handle.
He explained that the subsidy has already taken effect in major federal medical centers and teaching hospitals across the six geopolitical zones.

- Federal Medical Center (FMC), Jabi, Abuja.
- University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State.

- University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), Maiduguri, Borno State.
- Federal Medical Center (FMC), Abeokuta, Ogun State.
- Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Lagos.
8 . Federal Medical Center (FMC), Azare, Bauchi State
- University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Benin City, Edo State.
10 . University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), Calabar, Cross River State.
Bwala noted that more federal medical centers and teaching hospitals will be added to the scheme before the year ends, to further widen access for kidney patients nationwide.
He stressed that the initiative highlights President Tinubu’s commitment to prioritizing healthcare and reducing the financial strain on citizens.
