Embattled former police DCP, Abba Kyari has been released from the Kuje Custodial Centre in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) after two years in confinement.
Kyari, who was a former head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), was arrested and detained on February 14, 2022, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for alleged involvement in an international drug ring.
His release was confirmed by Adamu Duza, spokesperson of the Nigerian Correctional Service for the FCT Command, on Friday, May 31, 2024.
Duza stated that Kyari was released after meeting his bail conditions.
The statement reads:
“DCP Kyari has perfected his bail CONDITIONS AND has since been released today.”
