The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has revealed a shocking discovery of 100,000 SIM cards linked to a single individual.

This was announced by NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Reuben Muoka, who also stated that the commission has set September 14, 2024, as the final deadline for linking National Identification Numbers (NINs) to SIMs.

Muoka disclosed that the NCC, in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), has uncovered cases of individuals possessing an unusually high number of SIM cards, with some exceeding 100,000.

The commission is committed to working with security agencies and stakeholders to combat the sale of pre-registered SIMs, ensuring national security and the integrity of mobile numbers in Nigeria.

The NCC reminds the public that selling and purchasing pre-registered SIMs are criminal offenses punishable by imprisonment and fines. Citizens are encouraged to report such activities to the commission via their toll-free line (622) or social media platforms.
