A cholera outbreak in Adamawa State has claimed the lives of four individuals, with an additional 36 people currently receiving medical attention in various hospitals.

Chairman of Yola-North Local Government Area, Mr. Jibrin Ibrahim, disclosed this information during a visit to the affected patients at the Infectious Disease Centre in Yola on Sunday.

The outbreak has primarily affected the Alkalawa, Ajiya, and Limawa wards, with the number of cases rising from 20 in the morning to over 40, resulting in four fatalities. Fortunately, many of the victims have been stabilized due to prompt medical attention from health workers.

Ibrahim expressed gratitude for the swift response from health professionals, the Red Cross, and international partners.

He attributed the suspected outbreak to contaminated water caused by flooding in the affected areas.
