Prices at major filling stations range from N640 to N680 per litre, while independent marketers in Ilorin are charging between N900 and N1,000 per litre.
Many fuel stations are closed, citing a lack of supply. Tajudeen Balogun, a manager for an independent marketer, explained that the scarcity is due to the NNPC being the sole importer of petrol, with no current imports or loading in Lagos.
He believes the situation will persist until Nigeria’s local refineries are fully operational.
A TotalEnergies official in Ilorin confirmed that fuel is currently unavailable for loading in Lagos, attributing the situation to broader supply issues.
The fuel scarcity has also driven up transport fares in Ilorin, with commercial cab drivers, Okada riders, and tricycle operators expressing frustration over the situation.
