The assailants launched their attack on Geh, Kigam village, located within the Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna.
According to community leaders, this violent incident occurred at approximately 8:00 PM on Monday, September 25, 2023, when the attackers entered the village and indiscriminately opened fire on its residents.
Kigam village is predominantly inhabited by the Rigwe people.
The Irigwe Development Association’s National Leadership issued a statement on Tuesday, strongly condemning this distressing event and expressing their concern over the resurgence of such violence and loss of life.
Prince Robert Ashi Dodo, the National President of the IDA, characterized the attack as both barbaric and inhumane.
He urgently called upon law enforcement agencies to swiftly take action to apprehend the culprits and ensure they face the full force of the law.
In his statement, Prince Ashi emphasized the importance of vigilance among the community, urging individuals to report any suspicious signs or activities promptly to prevent further incidents.
The victims of this tragic incident have been identified as Sunday Gizindi (aged 49), Danjuma Alah (aged 43), and Martina Ishaya (aged 48), a mother of three.
Additionally, several individuals sustained injuries in the attack, including Victor Timothy (aged 25), Yohanna Ishaya, and Monday Kiri.
