The Yobe State Government has clarified that it has not made any official statement regarding the approval of a new minimum wage, contrary to circulating rumors.

According to Mamman Mohammed, Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the Yobe State Governor, the government is still working on the matter and will issue a statement once it’s finalized.

Mohammed denounced a recent social media post claiming the state government had approved a new minimum wage, calling it “false and misleading.” He pointed out that the post lacked specific details and failed to provide a credible source.

Additionally, Daily Trust Newspaper has disavowed the post, stating that the logo used was not theirs and the story couldn’t be found on their website.

Mohammed emphasized that it’s “grossly irresponsible” for anyone to speak or post on behalf of the state government without authorization.

He urged the public to disregard the misleading information and assured them that the government will provide an official and credible statement in due course.
