The Poultry Association of Nigeria warns that egg prices may surge to N10,000 per crate due to severe inflation, fuel price hikes, and forex scarcity.

At a World Egg Day press conference, Secretary Musa Hakeem urged the government to declare a state of emergency in egg production.

He cited soaring transportation and feed costs, despite farmers’ efforts to maintain affordability.

Hakeem sought stronger government support, citing lack of assistance since 2021.

Agro-dealer Jude Arikogu also highlighted concerns over poultry feed quality and weight.
