The Niger State Police Command has apprehended three suspected burglars, identified as Mohammed Auwal Abdulsamiu (24 years old), Abdulraheem Abdulsamiu (16 years old), and Abdullahi Usman (17 years old), for allegedly stealing seven wall fans from a mosque in Minna.
According to DSP Wsiu Abiodun, the command’s spokesperson, the suspects are notorious for breaking into homes and religious houses in the area and stealing valuable items.
They were arrested by the Anti-kidnapping unit patrol team while on routine patrol along Dutsen-Kura/Shanu village area of Minna.
The suspects were intercepted carrying two sacks suspected to contain stolen items, and upon search, seven wall fans were discovered concealed in the sacks.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to trespassing into a Juma’at Mosque in Dutsen-Kura/Kwasau area on January 22, 2024, and stealing the items. They planned to sell the stolen goods at Kasuwa-Gwari.
Further investigation revealed that the suspects had a reputation in the area for housebreaking and burglary.
They have been charged to court for prosecution.
