One dead as Lagos okada riders and police officers clash

Tension erupted in Santos Avenue, Abule Egba, Lagos State, as a clash ensued between police officers enforcing a motorcycle ban and riders.

The Lagos State Police Command detailed the incident on its official handle, stating that the officers encountered resistance from the Okada riders while trying to implement the ban.

In response to the attack, the officers deployed teargas to disperse the crowd and ensure their safety.

In the post, it read.

“A passenger in a tricycle, witnessing the use of teargas ahead, panicked and jumped out of the tricySet featured imagecle.”

“Sadly, an approaching Leyland tipper, with registration number AAB 376 CB, being driven recklessly, ran over her.

“The driver of the tipper abandoned the scene while the vehicle had been recovered.

Contact has also been established with the family of the deceased.

Meanwhile, full investigation into the incident has commenced.”
