A 70-year-old farmer named Pa Adeife Ifelaja has been abducted by kidnappers who are requesting a N50 million ransom for his release.
He’s an elder at a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Ijebu Igbo.
The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the incident and assured ongoing efforts to rescue him.
Ifelaja was taken from his home in Ijebu Igbo on December 31 while getting ready for the Crossover service.
The kidnappers have contacted the family demanding the ransom, initially asking for N50 million, but reports suggest negotiations for a lower sum, possibly N10 million.
The case has been reported to the police in Ijebu Igbo, and despite attempts by the kidnappers to mislead authorities about their location, the police are actively pursuing leads to secure Ifelaja’s release.
